Hoodlums Attack Itamarun Village in Lagos, Residents Injured and Molested

In a shocking turn of events, the peaceful village of Itamarun in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State was recently thrown into chaos when a group of hoodlums descended upon the community, causing widespread fear and panic among its residents. Reports indicate that the hoodlums not only ordered the villagers to vacate their homes but also subjected several women to harassment and molestation. Youth who dared to question the intruders were met with violence and injuries, further escalating the tense situation.

The brazen attack, which took place last Monday, left many residents traumatized and in hiding, as they feared for their safety in the face of the ruthless land grabbers. The traditional ruler of Itamarun, Bale Sulaiman Nojim, issued a distress call, pleading for assistance from Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to intervene and protect the community from the criminal elements terrorizing them.

According to Bale Sulaiman Nojim, the hoodlums arrived in the village in a convoy of seven vehicles, armed with dangerous weapons such as guns, axes, cutlasses, and broken bottles. The leader of the gang, believed to be a notorious land grabber, has made life unbearable for the villagers, with the complicity of some corrupt police officers from Alagbon. Despite the visit of the DPO of Akodo police station, Yahaya Adeola, who promised justice for the victims, the perpetrators of the heinous crime remain at large.

In the aftermath of the attack, many injured residents were rushed to Akodo General Hospital for treatment, highlighting the physical and emotional toll of the violent incident. The community remains on edge, with fear and uncertainty clouding their daily lives as they await justice and protection from the authorities.

As the residents of Itamarun struggle to recover from the trauma inflicted upon them, the urgent need for security and peace in the face of criminal threats looms large. The resilience and unity of the community will be tested in the days ahead, as they seek to rebuild and reclaim their sense of safety and belonging in the face of adversity.
