Court of Appeal Affirms Julius Abure as Labour Party National Chairman

The Court of Appeal in Abuja has made a landmark decision, affirming Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party, LP. This ruling comes after a previous judgment by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory had restrained Abure and two others from acting as national officers of the party.

In a surprising turn of events, the Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the lower court, stating that it had overstepped its jurisdiction. Justice Hamman Barka, leading a panel of three Justices, delivered the judgment, highlighting the merit of Abure’s appeal and ultimately allowing it.

“The judgment of the lower court is hereby set aside,” declared Justice Barka, also ordering the respondents to pay a cost of N1 million to Abure. This ruling marks a significant victory for Abure and sets a precedent for future legal battles within the Labour Party.
