Nigeria, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, and Madagascar have showcased their table tennis prowess at the 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana, advancing to the quarter-finals of the men’s team event. The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) confirmed this exciting development in a recent statement.
In group one, Egypt dominated their opponents, Ethiopia and Gabon, with impressive 3-0 victories, securing their spot at the top of the group. Meanwhile, Nigeria triumphed over Congo DR and Mauritania in group two, also with a perfect 3-0 record. Algeria and Tunisia displayed their skills by defeating Angola, Guinea, Cote d’Ivoire, and Kenya, respectively, to progress to the quarter-finals. Madagascar joined the elite teams by overcoming Ghana and Sudan in their matches.
The competition intensifies as the second-placed teams in each group will battle it out for the remaining three spots in the quarter-finals, setting the stage for thrilling matchups in the next round.
On the women’s side, Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, and Tunisia have secured their spots in the semi-finals after dominating their respective groups.
