The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a significant step by approving the formation of Caretaker Committees in Kano and Kogi states. This decision, made by the PDP National Working Committee on behalf of the National Executive Committee, is in line with the party’s Constitution and aims to ensure smooth operations within the chapters for a maximum of 90 days.

In Kano, the newly appointed members of the Caretaker Committee include Alhaji Mai Adamu Mustapha as Chairman and Barr. Baba Lawal Aliyu as Secretary. The committee also comprises individuals such as Ibrahim A. Dan’Iya, Prof. Muntari Y. Banana, and Hon. Aminu A. Jingau, among others.

Similarly, in Kogi, Sen. Danjuma La’ah has been appointed as Chairman of the Caretaker Committee, with Sen. Phillip Gyunka serving as Secretary. The committee in Kogi also includes Hon. Joshua Adejoh, Hon. Sunday Shigaba, and Hon. Gabriel Olorunnipa, among others.

The PDP National Working Committee has called on leaders, stakeholders, and members of the party in Kano and Kogi states to maintain unity and collaborate for the advancement of the Party. It is important to note that the tenure of the previous Working Committees in both states has ended, leading to the appointment of Caretaker Committees as an interim measure.

Looking ahead, the PDP plans to hold elections at a later date to establish permanent State Working Committees in Kano and Kogi states. This move underscores the party’s commitment to democratic processes and ensuring effective leadership at the state level.
