Rio Ferdinand Names Manchester City as Champions League Favorites

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has boldly declared Manchester City as the team to beat in this season’s Champions League. In a recent interview, Ferdinand praised Pep Guardiola’s side, stating that they are in a league of their own compared to other teams in the competition.

After Manchester City’s impressive 3-1 victory over FC Copenhagen in the round of 16 second leg tie, Ferdinand shared his thoughts on the team’s performance. Goals from Manuel Akanji, Julian Alvarez, and Erling Haaland secured the win for the Premier League champions, further solidifying their dominance in the tournament.

“I just don’t see anybody beating them over two legs. Then it depends on who gets in the final,” Ferdinand expressed to TNT Sports post-match. “Whoever they are playing against in the final needs that stardust from one or two players who can turn a game on its head, then they have an opportunity, a chance. But City, I think they are standout favourites. They are a level above.”

With Manchester City currently holding the title of reigning champions after their victory over Inter Milan in the final last season, the team’s form and performance this season have only reinforced Ferdinand’s belief in their ability to go all the way and lift the trophy once again.

As the Champions League progresses, all eyes will be on Manchester City as they continue their quest for European glory. Will they be able to maintain their dominance and secure another title? Only time will tell. But one thing is for sure, Manchester City is a force to be reckoned with in the world of football.
