Chairman of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State, Venatius Ikem, has expressed confidence that his party will make a strong comeback. In a recent statement titled “Re-Cross River State PDP Stakeholders’ Meeting,” Ikem highlighted the ongoing consultations among party stakeholders, with plans for a caucus meeting and subsequent gatherings in the near future.
Acknowledging a recent stakeholders’ meeting in Calabar on March 6, 2024, Ikem noted the low turnout due to short notice. He suggested that the meeting, organized by former governorship candidate Prof. Sandy Onor, was primarily to update members and gather feedback, explaining the absence of key stakeholders from across the state.
Despite the setback of losing the 2023 election to the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ikem emphasized the importance of unity and perseverance within the party. He reassured leaders, members, and supporters that the PDP is actively working to reposition itself as a formidable opposition force in the state.
“We must accept the reality of our current position as the opposition and remain steadfast in our efforts to strengthen the party for future elections,” Ikem stated. “With determination, patience, and a commitment to our cause, we will undoubtedly rise again.”
As the PDP continues its consultations and planning for upcoming meetings, Ikem remains optimistic about the party’s prospects for the future. He urged all members to stay hopeful and focused on the goal of reclaiming their political influence in the region.
With a clear vision and a resilient spirit, the Peoples Democratic Party in Cross River State is poised to bounce back stronger than ever. Stay tuned for updates on their journey towards political resurgence.
