Air strikes carried out by the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji have successfully destroyed the hideouts of numerous terrorist leaders in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. Among those targeted was the infamous terrorist leader, Maudi Maudi, whose stronghold was located south of Tsaskiya in Safana LGA.
The Nigerian Air Force, in a statement released by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, confirmed that the strikes on March 5, 2024, were a result of meticulous Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance operations that identified clusters of huts housing armed terrorists in the rocky terrain. The authorization to strike was granted after confirming the presence of the terrorists in the area.
The post-strike assessment revealed that several terrorists were killed, while others managed to escape with injuries. Although it is uncertain whether Maudi Maudi was among those neutralized, the targeted location was left engulfed in flames, with survivors seen fleeing to safety.
In a similar operation in Zamfara State, airstrikes on the camp of notorious terrorist kingpin Alhaji Na-Shama resulted in the neutralization of several of his associates and the complete destruction of his camp and logistics. The effectiveness of the precision strikes by NAF aircraft has been evident in the elimination of terrorists and the disruption of their means of mobility, including motorcycles.
These proactive measures align with the mission objectives of Operation Hadarin Daji, which aims to secure the Northwestern region of Nigeria from the threats of terrorism, kidnapping, and banditry. The continuous efforts of the Nigerian Air Force in targeting terrorist enclaves demonstrate a commitment to protecting civilian lives and dismantling the support bases of these criminal elements.
