The Nigerian national under-20 football team, known as the Flying Eagles, suffered a disappointing 2-1 loss to Uganda in their first match of the men’s football event at the 2023 African Games in Accra. The game, which took place on Tuesday night, saw Uganda take the lead with a goal from Kizma Osama in the 35th minute. However, the Flying Eagles quickly responded, with Sadiq Isiyaka scoring from a corner kick to level the score.

Despite their efforts, the Nigerian team was unable to hold off Uganda, as Ivan Irinimabozi scored the winning goal for the Hippos just nine minutes before the final whistle. In the other Group B match, Senegal secured a 1-0 victory over South Sudan.

Next up for Nigeria is a match against South Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday. The Flying Eagles will be looking to bounce back from their opening defeat and secure their first win of the tournament. Stay tuned for more updates on their journey at the African Games 2023.
