Troops Arrest Suspects in Murder of Alhaji Saleh Umar

Troops have made significant strides in the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the Kaduna State region. The recent arrest of suspects linked to the brutal murder of Alhaji Saleh Umar, the Ardo of Kamuru, has brought some semblance of justice to the community.

According to reports, the assailants responsible for the abduction and subsequent killing of Alhaji Umar were apprehended by the diligent troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH). This military task force, responsible for maintaining peace in Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna states, has been instrumental in bringing perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice.

In a recent press conference held in Jos, Maj. Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer for OPSH, revealed that the troops also successfully arrested suspects involved in the murder of retired Master Warrant Officer of the Nigerian Air Force, Hamza Musa. Additionally, the perpetrators behind the killings of residents in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau were also brought to justice.

Furthermore, the collaborative efforts between OPSH and the State Security Service (SSS) led to the arrest of suspected vandals of rail tracks, highlighting the commitment to safeguarding critical infrastructure in the region.

The arrests of the prime suspects in Alhaji Umar’s murder shed light on the interconnected nature of criminal activities in the area. Investigations revealed that the same group was behind the attempted kidnapping of Mr. Sidi Kukah, the paramount Chief of Ikulu.

Items recovered from the suspects included railway slippers, articulated trucks, car batteries, a gas cylinder, a generator, a tire, and a vehicle number plate, underscoring the diverse criminal activities these individuals were involved in.

Mr. Zhakom expressed gratitude to the residents for their unwavering support and urged continued collaboration to combat insecurity in the region. The successful operations conducted by OPSH serve as a testament to the dedication and professionalism of the troops in ensuring the safety and security of the communities they serve.
