Bendel Insurance Football Club of the Nigeria Premier Football League has set the record straight amidst swirling rumors about the status of head coach Monday Odigie. Contrary to reports suggesting that Odigie had resigned from his position, the club has confirmed that he is still very much a part of the team.

The speculation arose when Odigie was noticeably absent from training leading up to a crucial match against Gombe United, which Bendel Insurance went on to win 2-0 under the guidance of assistant coach Greg Ikhenoba. Following the game, whispers began to circulate that Odigie had walked away from the Benin Arsenals.

In response to the misinformation spreading on social media platforms, Bendel Insurance issued an official statement to address the situation. The club emphasized that Odigie remains in communication with the management, as verified by Edo state Sports Commission Chairman Olympian Yusuf Alli and Bendel Insurance FC Secretary Charles Ihimekpen.

It was clarified that Odigie had informed the club’s secretary and assistant coach about his urgent need to travel out of the state for personal matters immediately upon their return from a match in Jos, Plateau State. In his absence, he entrusted Greg Ikhenoba with overseeing the technical aspects of the team until his return.

The club’s statement aimed to quash the unfounded rumors and set the record straight regarding Odigie’s continued involvement with Bendel Insurance. With this clarification, Bendel Insurance seeks to put an end to the misinformation circulating and reaffirm their commitment to their head coach.
