Nigeria’s Nworie Emmanuel Wins Bronze in 77kg Greco-Roman at African Games

Nigeria’s Nworie Emmanuel clinched a bronze medal in the 77kg Greco-Roman event at the African Games in Accra, Ghana. In a stunning victory, Nworie defeated Hattingh Johannes of South Africa with an impressive 11-0 score, showcasing his exceptional wrestling skills.

In a controversial semifinal match, Nworie faced off against an Egyptian opponent and despite dominating the tie, he was ultimately defeated through technical decisions by the umpires. Expressing his disappointment after the game, Emmanuel lamented his semifinal loss, stating that he had given his all in the match in hopes of securing a spot in the final.

Determined to bounce back, Nworie put forth a stellar performance in the third-place match, securing the bronze medal with sheer determination and skill. Looking ahead, Nigerian wrestlers, including Blessing Oborodudu and Odunayo Adekuoroye, are set to compete in the women’s wrestling event on Sunday, aiming to further showcase their talent on the mat.
