Lobi Stars head coach, Eugene Agagbe, recently expressed his admiration for the newly renovated playing turf at the Umuahia Township Stadium, the home ground of Nigeria Premier Football League side, Abia Warriors. Agagbe praised the quality of the turf, comparing it favorably to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, the home ground of Rivers United.
Following a brief ban on Abia Warriors playing at the stadium due to complaints from visiting teams, the club’s management undertook extensive renovation work to address the issues. The team has since been given the green light to return to their home ground, much to the delight of Agagbe.
In a post-match interview, Agagbe raved about the playing surface, describing it as one of the best in Nigeria. He marveled at the lush green grass covering the field and the smooth flow of the ball, highlighting the ease of playing on such a well-maintained turf.
With the ban lifted and the stadium now in top condition, Agagbe believes that Abia Warriors made the right decision to return to their base. The coach’s positive feedback on the stadium’s transformation underscores the importance of quality playing surfaces in enhancing the overall football experience for both players and fans.
