Defending champions Nigeria have secured their spot in the semi-finals of the women’s football event at the 13th African Games with an impressive 4-0 victory over Senegal.

The game started off with Loveth Edeh scoring the opening goal in the 13th minute, setting the tone for Nigeria’s dominance. Despite both teams creating scoring opportunities, the first half ended without any additional goals.

The Falconets came out strong in the second half, with Motunrayo Ezekiel scoring the second goal just five minutes after the break. Senegal’s woes continued as they scored an own goal in the 51st minute, extending Nigeria’s lead to 3-0.

Chioma Olise sealed the victory with a fourth goal ten minutes before the final whistle, showcasing Nigeria’s attacking prowess. The goal came after a brilliant build-up play from substitute Chiamaka Okwuchukwu.

With this win, Chris Danjuma’s side now sits at the top of Group B with six points from two games. They will now face the second-place team in Group A in the semi-finals.
