The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) presented more evidence against MICAD Project City Services Limited and James Nolan in court on March 11, 2024. The duo is facing a 20-count charge of obtaining money by false pretense, non-compliance with the Money Laundering Act, and criminal conversion of crime proceeds amounting to N151,394,328.00.

During the court session, the prosecution counsel, Bala Sanga, revealed that additional evidence was filed on February 20, 2024. The defense counsel, Micheal Ajara, acknowledged receiving the evidence.

One of the key witnesses, Nnedimma Eyisi, a lawyer, testified about how James Nolan approached her in 2016 to renew his position as the Director of MICAD. She prepared the necessary documents, including a CAC Form 7, which was approved by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) after James Nolan’s consent.

Ms. Eyisi also mentioned that she was contacted by the EFCC regarding the CAC Form 7 and provided a statement in August 2021. The document was admitted as Exhibit J by Justice Egwuatu.

In a previous session on January 18, 2024, another prosecution counsel, Hussain Babangida, revealed how directors of Micad City Services Ltd evaded paying N39,450,224.23 in taxes to the Federal government using forged signatures.

The court adjourned the hearing to March 12, 2024, for further proceedings. Stay tuned for more updates on this ongoing case.
