In response to the recent kidnapping of over 280 students and teachers from LEA Primary School in Kuriga Community, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has taken swift action by deploying a mobile police unit to the community.

The abduction, which took place last Thursday at 8 am, has sparked national outrage and concern. In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the IGP expressed his sympathy for the victims and the people of Kaduna State, as well as his commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted students.

During his visit to the state, the IGP, accompanied by senior police officers, including the Deputy Inspector General in charge of the Force Intelligence Department, Habu Sani, reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to employing both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to secure the release of the students and bring the perpetrators to justice.

To bolster security efforts in the affected area, the IGP announced the immediate deployment of a fully armed and ready unit of mobile policemen to Kuriga Community. The Kaduna State Governor has pledged the state government’s support for the deployed unit and called on the media to practice responsible journalism during this crisis.

In meetings with police officers at the Police Command and the Police College in Kaduna, the IGP addressed their concerns and assured them of the Force’s commitment to their welfare. He emphasized the importance of a service-driven, professionally competent, and people-friendly police institution to ensure a more secure environment in Nigeria.

As the Nigeria Police Force works diligently to resolve the security challenges facing the country, the IGP urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement and other relevant security agencies.
