Former UFC heavyweight champion, Francis Ngannou, is taking his health seriously after a devastating knockout by Anthony Joshua last weekend. The fight ended in the first round, with Ngannou being knocked down early in the second round as well. The 37-year-old fighter was clearly dazed and needed medical attention before regaining consciousness.
Reflecting on the fight, Ngannou shared, “We move, but regardless I feel okay. I was quite surprised that I remember everything from that fight night and coming back to the locker room. Basically I was conscious right after and since then everything has been good, although (I) still need to run some medical work just in case. I feel healthy but for the longevity of the sport… we better check and find out if there’s anything that could be done to get better now… I still need more checkups.”
Ngannou’s focus on his health and well-being is a reminder of the physical toll that combat sports can take on athletes. As he prepares for his next steps, he is prioritizing his medical checkups to ensure he is in the best possible condition for his future fights.
The world of combat sports is a demanding and unforgiving one, and Ngannou’s dedication to his health serves as an example for all athletes to prioritize their well-being above all else. As he continues his journey in the world of fighting, Ngannou’s commitment to his health is a testament to his resilience and determination.
