In a shocking incident at Gujarat University hostel in Ahmedabad, students from various countries were reportedly assaulted for offering taraweeh namaz, sparking outrage and prompting swift police action. The victims, hailing from Sri Lanka, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, and African nations, were attacked on Saturday night, leading to hospitalizations and the filing of an FIR against 20-25 individuals. Police Commissioner GS Malik has formed nine investigative teams to probe the disturbing assault.

The assault took place around 10.50 pm when a group of nearly two dozen people barged into the hostel, confronting the international students about their religious practices. The situation quickly turned violent, with the attackers resorting to stone-throwing, causing injuries that required medical attention. Police responded promptly to the scene, taking control of the situation and launching an investigation.

Following the assault, an FIR was lodged against the perpetrators, with assurances from Police Commissioner GS Malik that arrests will be made soon. The formation of multiple investigative teams underscores the gravity of the incident, with a focus on identifying and apprehending those responsible for the attack.
