The Kogi State Security Trust has taken a significant step towards enhancing security in the state by launching the distribution of motorcycles and new tires to security agencies. This initiative aims to improve mobility and aid in curbing criminal activities within the region.
Abdulkareem Ozovehe, the Chairman of the Trust Fund, officially kicked off the distribution to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Lokoja. Governor Ahmed Ododo approved the procurement of 35 motorcycles to be distributed across the 21 local government areas of the state, demonstrating a commitment to combatting crime.
In addition to providing motorcycles and tires, the agency has also refurbished operational vehicles for security operatives and Kogi Hunters in different parts of the state. Furthermore, the governor has given the green light for the procurement of 16 flying boats to support security efforts in the riverine local government areas.
The state government, in collaboration with the National Union of Road Transport Workers and Okada Riders Association, is actively working to identify and apprehend criminals who disguise themselves as members of these groups to carry out illegal activities. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious behavior in their communities.
Supt. Salihu Mohammed of the NSCDC expressed gratitude on behalf of the security agencies for the provision of motorcycles and tires, emphasizing that such support will significantly reduce crime rates in Kogi State.
The governor’s proactive measures and partnerships with various stakeholders demonstrate a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. By working together, the community and security forces can effectively combat crime and create a safer environment for everyone.
