Former Director of the Department of State Services, DSS, Mike Ejiofor, is calling for an independent investigation into the tragic killing of 17 military personnel in Okuama community, Delta State. In an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, Ejiofor expressed concerns over the deployment of high-ranking military officials to settle a land dispute.

Ejiofor emphasized the need for a thorough and unbiased inquiry, suggesting that important individuals may be implicated in the incident. He urged both the Federal and State governments to establish a high-powered investigative panel to uncover the truth behind the deployment of the military personnel, including the Commanding Officer of the 181 Amphibious Battalion.

Highlighting the complexity of the situation, Ejiofor stressed the importance of involving multiple stakeholders in future peacekeeping missions. He recommended the inclusion of Police and DSS operatives to ensure a comprehensive and neutral approach to civilian assignments.

As the call for justice grows louder, Ejiofor’s demand for transparency and accountability resonates with the need to uncover the truth behind this tragic event. The urgency of the situation requires swift action to prevent further escalation and ensure that justice is served for the fallen military personnel.
