The detained President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, was arraigned by the Federal Government at a Federal High Court in Abuja on charges related to terrorism. Bodejo, who was arrested in Nasarawa State, was accused of raising an armed militia that threatened national security.
The Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation sought to remand Bodejo in custody for 15 days pending further investigation. The suspect was charged under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, for actions that posed a threat to national security.
After a series of legal proceedings, Bodejo pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him. The prosecution requested to call witnesses to establish their case, while Bodejo’s lawyer argued that the arraignment was defective.
The judge granted the prosecution’s request to continue detaining Bodejo and also directed that he receive proper medical care. The court warned against any disruptions during the trial and set dates for the trial to proceed.
In the amended charge, Bodejo was accused of establishing an ethnic militia without authorization, punishable under the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
The trial is set to continue on specific dates in May, with the focus on addressing the charges brought against Bello Bodejo in a fair and lawful manner.
