APGA Slams APC Chairman Ganduje Over Anambra State Disconnect Claim

APGA Claps Back at APC Chairman’s Comments on Anambra State

The All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has hit back at the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje, for his recent remarks about Anambra State’s political affiliation. In a statement released by Mazi Ejimofor Opara, APGA’s National Publicity Secretary, the party defended Anambra’s position as a minority party, highlighting the state’s achievements despite not being aligned with the ruling party at the center.

Ganduje, speaking at a South East APC colloquium in Nnewi, had suggested that Anambra’s connection to APGA was causing a political disconnect from the rest of the region. However, Opara pointed out that Ganduje’s own track record as governor of Kano State, where the APC faced a significant backlash in the 2023 elections, raised questions about his credibility in assessing political landscapes.

The statement emphasized that Anambra’s choice to remain with APGA was performance-based, citing the state’s impressive progress under leaders like Peter Obi, Willie Obiano, and the current governor, Professor Soludo. Opara highlighted Anambra’s achievements in areas such as ICT deployment and education, showcasing the state’s commitment to growth and development.

Despite criticisms from the APC, Opara reaffirmed APGA’s stronghold in Anambra and the Southeast region, dismissing suggestions of a disconnect from the political center. He criticized the APC for turning a colloquium into a political rally and conducting a primary election, questioning the party’s intentions in the region.

In conclusion, Opara’s response to Ganduje’s comments painted a picture of a vibrant and successful Anambra under APGA’s leadership, challenging perceptions of political isolation and emphasizing the state’s dedication to progress. The statement served as a strong defense of Anambra’s political choices and achievements, resonating with readers from diverse backgrounds and shedding light on the complexities of Nigerian politics.
