Rescue of 137 Students from LEA Primary School Kuriga in Kaduna State

The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has successfully secured the release of 137 students from LEA Primary School Kuriga in Kaduna State, debunking earlier reports of 286 victims. The rescue operation, carried out in collaboration with local authorities, took place in Zamfara State.

According to Director of Defence Media Operations, Edward Buba, the rescued students, aged between eight and 15, consisted of 76 females and 61 males. The operation was launched following reports of a terrorist attack on the school on March 7, 2024.

In a coordinated effort involving the military, local authorities, and government agencies, the hostages were located and rescued on March 24, 2024. The students will be handed over to the Kaduna State Government for further assistance.

This successful rescue mission highlights the commitment of the Nigerian military to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens. The swift and decisive action taken in this operation serves as a beacon of hope for the community and a testament to the resilience of the Nigerian people.
