Nairobi — The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a weather forecast predicting heavy rainfall in various parts of the country from Saturday to Wednesday. Director Kennedy Thiong’o highlighted the likelihood of isolated storms in some regions.
According to the latest bulletin, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands, and the Coast and North-western areas are expected to receive rainfall. However, North-eastern Kenya is expected to remain sunny and dry during this period.
In specific regions, such as the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley, residents can expect rainfall, showers, and thunderstorms during the day, with showers continuing into the night. Temperatures are projected to reach a maximum of 33 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 10 degrees Celsius.
The North-western region, including Turkana and Samburu counties, will experience temperatures ranging from a maximum of 40 degrees Celsius to a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius, with isolated rainfall in some areas.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley, which includes Nairobi County, showers are expected in various locations, with temperatures ranging from 10 degrees Celsius to 30 degrees Celsius.
The South-eastern lowlands and the Coastal region will also experience showers, with maximum temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 15 degrees Celsius.
Additionally, isolated areas in Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, and Isiolo counties are forecasted to receive rainfall, with maximum temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 19 degrees Celsius.
