The chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State, Barrister Alphonsus Eba, has made a significant revelation about the relationship between the immediate past governor, Prof. Ben Ayade, and his successor, Senator Bassey Otu. Eba emphasized that Ayade had played a crucial role in ensuring Otu’s victory in the gubernatorial election, and as such, there should be no witch-hunting between them.

In an interview with journalists in Calabar, Eba addressed the ongoing recovery of alleged stolen government properties by the state House of Assembly. Some of the items recovered include heavy-duty tractors taken by Ayade’s former officials, a 100-bed hotel in Abuja sold for a suspiciously low price, and the halt of a private renovation project at the Cross River Liaison House in Abuja.

Eba highlighted the strong bond between Ayade and Otu, stating that Otu acknowledges the sacrifices made by Ayade and will not allow anyone to create a rift between them. He firmly stated that the APC, under his leadership, will also support this stance.

Refuting claims of witch-hunting, Eba emphasized that the government is simply recovering its properties, and any insinuation of theft should be retracted. He affirmed the authority of the Cross River State Assembly to take action against fraud and corruption.

The message is clear: there is no animosity between Ayade and Otu, and any actions taken are in the interest of upholding transparency and accountability in governance. The unity and integrity of the party and the state are paramount, and no one will be allowed to disrupt that.
