ZANU PF Calls for Disciplinary Action Against Absent MPs and Officials

ZANU PF Politburo member, Ziyambi Ziyambi, has issued a stern warning to his party’s Members of Parliament and officials who have been consistently absent from important meetings within the ruling establishment. Speaking at a Zanu PF Mashonaland West Provincial Coordinating Committee (PCC) gathering in Chinhoyi, Ziyambi emphasized the importance of attendance at party meetings as a constitutional requirement that must be honored.

During the meeting, only four legislators out of a possible dozen-and-half MPs from the province were present, prompting Ziyambi to express his concern over the lack of participation. He reminded party members that attendance at various party organs, including the Youth, Women’s, and War Veterans leagues, is crucial for effective governance and decision-making.

Ziyambi, who also serves as the Justice, Legal, and Parliamentary Affairs minister, highlighted the need for elected representatives to prioritize party meetings over other engagements, emphasizing that President Emmerson Mnangagwa himself adheres to the schedules of the party’s organs.

In response to the low attendance, Zanu PF Mashonaland West chairman, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, vowed to take disciplinary action against MPs and party officials who continue to be absent without valid reasons. She emphasized the importance of unity and commitment within the party to ensure effective delivery on its mandate.

Additionally, delegates were informed about the upcoming cell and village restructuring exercise, as well as the postponement of the reconfiguration of District Coordinating Committees (DCCs) pending further directives from the national commissariat. Politicking ahead of DCC elections was discouraged, with a warning issued against engaging in illegal conduct.

The meeting also highlighted plans for Kadoma to host provincial festivities in celebration of Independence Day, and urged party organs to mobilize supporters for President Mnangagwa’s upcoming visit to commission an underground mine in Chegutu.

Overall, the message from Ziyambi and other party officials was clear – attendance at party meetings is non-negotiable, and disciplinary action will be taken against those who fail to fulfill this obligation. The unity and commitment of Zanu PF members are essential for the party to effectively fulfill its mandate and serve the interests of the people.
