Bob Wilson Warns of Bukayo Sakas Risk of Being Forced

Renowned Arsenal legend Bob Wilson has raised concerns about the treatment of young star player Bukayo Saka, warning that the talented footballer could be driven out of the game if referees do not provide him with better protection on the field.

In a recent statement, Arsenal expressed their worries to the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) regarding Saka’s safety during matches. Despite being the third-most fouled player in 2023, behind Jordan Ayew of Crystal Palace, Wilson believes that the frequency and severity of fouls against Saka are cause for alarm.

As Arsenal prepares to face off against Manchester City in a crucial title showdown, Wilson has reiterated his concerns, stressing the importance of referees recognizing and addressing the dangers faced by Saka on the pitch. He highlighted the constant presence of multiple opposition players closely marking Saka, often resulting in fouls when they are unable to contain his exceptional skill.

Wilson expressed his frustration, stating, “What drives me demented is we have one of the best young players and, if we are not careful, football will lose him by the time he is 24 or 25 because Bukayo Saka will have been kicked out of the game.” He emphasized that referees seem to overlook the challenges Saka faces, with multiple players targeting him during matches.

“People may think it’s too dramatic, but the reality is that there has not been a more targeted player in the Premier League than Bukayo Saka,” Wilson told The Telegraph.

As fans and football enthusiasts gear up for the upcoming match, the spotlight is on Saka and the need for referees to ensure his safety and well-being on the field. Will the young talent receive the protection he deserves, or will the relentless fouls and challenges force him out of the game prematurely? Only time will tell.
