Former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai recently paid a visit to former military Head of State, Yakubu Gowon, at his residence in Abuja. This meeting comes on the heels of El-Rufai’s second meeting with leaders of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), sparking rumors of a potential party switch.
During his visit to Senator Abubakar Gada’s residence in Abuja, El-Rufai was joined by SDP chairman Shehu Musa Gabam and other party leaders. Also in attendance were Senator Teslim Folarin, the APC gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State in the upcoming 2023 elections, and Senator Nazif Suleiman, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Bauchi State.
The gathering at Senator Gada’s home followed a Ramadan iftar hosted by El-Rufai at his Abuja residence, which was attended by notable figures such as National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, and Shehu Musa Gabam.
In addition to these meetings, El-Rufai also made a stop at the SDP secretariat to meet with Gabam, further fueling speculation about his political intentions.
As El-Rufai’s interactions with various political figures continue to make headlines, the question remains: is a party switch on the horizon for the former governor? Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
