The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has issued a crucial advisory for intending pilgrims, emphasizing the importance of paying the Hajj fare based on the prevailing dollar exchange rate at the time of payment.
According to Fatima Sanda-Usara, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs at NAHCON, the current cost of the Hajj fare for this year is set at $5,692.25. She highlighted that as of March 24, the exchange rate for the Nigerian Naira to the US Dollar was N1,474.62. However, due to the fluctuating nature of exchange rates, it is recommended that pilgrims pay according to the exchange rate on the day of payment to avoid any discrepancies.
In the event of a change in the dollar’s value at the time of final remittance into NAHCON’s IBAN account, pilgrims will either receive a refund or the balance will be adjusted accordingly. This flexibility is essential to accommodate any fluctuations in the exchange rate, ensuring a transparent and smooth process for all intending pilgrims.
NAHCON is dedicated to providing updates and information regarding the hajj fare payment, and Sanda-Usara urged all intending pilgrims to stay informed. By adhering to these guidelines, pilgrims can ensure a seamless and hassle-free experience as they embark on their spiritual journey.
