APC Rivers State Warns Rep Ikenga Ugochinyere: Stay Out of State Politics

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has issued a stern warning to Hon Ikenga Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, to steer clear of the state’s politics. The party’s caretaker committee, led by Chief Tony Okocha, delivered this caution in a statement released after a meeting on Wednesday.

During the meeting, attended by key committee members such as Chief Eric Nwibani, Hon Darling Amadi, Hon Ikenga Chibuike, and Warisenibo Dan Jumbo, Okocha emphasized that Ugochinyere, as a non-Rivers man representing the Ideato Federal constituency in Imo State, lacks the authority to comment on Rivers State matters.

Okocha highlighted Ugochinyere’s inaction on issues in Imo State, questioning his credibility to speak on behalf of Rivers. He accused Ugochinyere of being a mouthpiece for the Rivers government, criticizing his lack of concern for pressing issues in the state.

The committee also addressed Ugochinyere’s allegations regarding the House of Assembly’s actions and the legality of Assembly members defecting to the APC. Okocha refuted these claims, asserting the committee’s commitment to upholding the rule of law.

In response to Ugochinyere’s criticism of the governor and the state government, Okocha challenged him to identify tangible achievements and engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to baseless accusations.

Ultimately, the APC committee demanded an apology from Ugochinyere within 48 hours for his alleged role in spreading misinformation and undermining the state government. The ongoing political tensions in Rivers State underscore the need for responsible and informed discourse to ensure the welfare of its citizens.
