Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano has made a significant decision to support the state’s intending pilgrims for the 2024 Hajj in Saudi Arabia. Each pilgrim will receive a subsidy of N500,000 to ease the financial burden they face in light of the current economic challenges.
Lamin Dan-Baffa, the Director-General of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, announced this subsidy during a press briefing in Kano. He emphasized the importance of alleviating the suffering of the pilgrims, especially with the increase in Hajj fare posing a significant challenge to many.
Over 2,900 intending pilgrims have already made part-payments to the board and will benefit from this subsidy. Mr. Dan-Baffa urged all pilgrims to ensure they pay the remaining balance before the deadline set by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, NAHCON, which is March 28.
This subsidy comes as a relief to many pilgrims and demonstrates the government’s commitment to supporting its citizens during religious obligations. It is a gesture of compassion and solidarity in challenging times.
