Former Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani, has made a bold statement regarding the newly elected President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, suggesting that he has brought about a significant change in the political landscape.

Faye, a 44-year-old member of the banned African Patriots of Senegal for Work, Ethics and Fraternity (PASTEF), emerged victorious in the presidential election as part of an opposition coalition’s populist movement. He is set to take over from President Macky Sall on April 2nd.

In response to Faye’s win, Sani took to social media to draw a parallel with the football world, stating, “When Mbappe requested to play for Cameroon, they demanded money from him & then France gave him the opportunity to play for France. If he chooses to identify himself as French & not Cameroonian, he is right. Those who were with you in your moment of trials or need are your true friends.”

Sani further commented on Faye’s presidency, remarking, “The new President of Senegal has changed the rule; behind every successful man there are two women.”

This unexpected victory and the subsequent reactions highlight the evolving political landscape in Senegal and the impact of Faye’s leadership on the country’s future. As Senegal prepares for a new era under Faye’s presidency, the world watches with anticipation to see how this change will unfold.
