Chief Uche Aguoru, the Director of New Media for the former Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Campaign Council in Abia State, has pointed fingers at a few powerful members within the party for its loss in the 2023 elections. In a scathing statement, Aguoru criticized former minority leader of the senate, Enyinnaya Abaribe, accusing him of instigating the rebellion that led to the party’s downfall.
According to Aguoru, the party leadership failed to recognize the conspiracy brewing within its ranks and made the grave mistake of denying tickets to popular candidates during the primary elections. This decision, he claims, resulted in the loss of valuable grassroots support that could have secured victory for the party.
Aguoru revealed that the party is now actively engaged in resolving internal conflicts and is beginning to see positive outcomes from these efforts. He expressed optimism that in the coming months, the party will emerge with a revitalized leadership that can effectively challenge the ruling Labour party.
However, Aguoru also called out Senator Akobundu for his undemocratic tendencies, urging him to allow for internal party democracy to prevail. He emphasized the importance of allowing members to choose their leaders freely, highlighting that the lack of such freedom has driven prominent figures like Hon Onuigbo away from the PDP.
As the party undergoes a process of self-evaluation and strategic planning, Aguoru remains steadfast in his belief that the PDP is the only platform capable of providing a strong opposition to the ruling party. With ongoing meetings at high levels and a commitment to addressing internal issues, Aguoru is hopeful that the party will soon emerge stronger and more united than ever before.
