Ethiopia Power Outage Resolved: Ministry Invests in Energy Development

The recent power outage in Ethiopia, which left most of the country in darkness for 18 hours on March 28, has finally come to an end, according to the Ethiopian Electric Power. The only exception to this widespread blackout was Bahir Dar and its surrounding areas.

In a statement released by the Ethiopian Electric Power, they acknowledged that the power cut was due to a problem in their system, but did not provide any further details on the cause of the outage.

This incident has raised concerns about the reliability of Ethiopia’s power supply, especially as the country aims to position itself as an energy hub in Eastern Africa. The Ministry of Water and Energy recently announced significant investments in power generation and infrastructure development to achieve this goal.

As Ethiopia works towards becoming a key player in the region’s energy sector, ensuring a stable and uninterrupted power supply will be crucial. The recent power outage serves as a reminder of the challenges that lie ahead in achieving this ambitious vision.
