Solomon Folorunsho, the Coordinator of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Edo, is urgently appealing for support from compassionate individuals to provide food for the camp’s residents. During a recent visit to the camp in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo, Mr. Folorunsho highlighted the pressing need for resources to ensure the well-being of the displaced persons.
The coordinator emphasized the importance of feeding the inhabitants and covering school fees for the children in the camp. Despite economic challenges, some members of the host community have shown generosity by providing food for those in need. However, the camp is still facing significant challenges, with individuals from the host community also seeking assistance due to food scarcity.
Evelyn Omigie, a supervisor at the camp, echoed the call for support, citing the lack of adequate food supplies and consumables as major obstacles. She urged well-meaning Nigerians to contribute food items to sustain the children in the camp, as the current food supply is insufficient. Additionally, Omigie emphasized the need for scholarships to prevent children from dropping out of school and requested assistance in installing solar-powered boreholes and lights, as well as expanding the hostel facilities to accommodate more residents.
The camp, which houses over three thousand individuals, is in dire need of assistance to alleviate the suffering of its residents. With teachers facing salary delays and limited resources for essential supplies, the support of the wider community is crucial in ensuring the well-being and education of those affected by displacement.
As the Easter Celebration approaches, the call for support for the IDP camp in Edo resonates with the spirit of compassion and solidarity. By coming together to provide aid and resources, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing hardship and uncertainty. Let us stand in solidarity with the displaced persons and offer our support in their time of need.
