As the deadline for the Federal Government’s 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program approaches on March 31, 2024, technical issues on the platform have caused frustration among Nigerian applicants trying to register for the program. Many individuals have taken to social media to express their concerns and complaints about the registration process.
The 3MTT program, launched last year, aims to train three million technical talents to boost Nigeria’s digital economy, position the country as a talent exporter, and create two million digital jobs by 2025. The first cohort of 30,000 participants has undergone training in various skill areas such as Software Development, UI/UX Design, Data Analysis & Visualization, Cybersecurity, and more over the past few months.
However, applicants like Baker Joe, Loluwa, Sunday Taiwo, Kingsley Ekong, and Simdy have reported encountering errors while trying to complete the questionnaire test on the platform, save their profiles, and submit their applications. These technical glitches have hindered their progress in the registration process.
In response to the complaints, the 3MTT team acknowledged the system upgrade causing registration hurdles and extended the deadline for profile updates to March 31, 2024. The team assured applicants that they are working to resolve the issues and ensure a seamless experience for all participants.
Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, leading the program, announced that an additional 270,000 Nigerians have joined the 3MTT program and will undergo training in the next 18 months. The minister also shared that the selection of fellows for the second phase of the program will be announced soon, with training projected to begin in March.
Despite the technical challenges faced by applicants, the government remains committed to empowering Nigerians with technical skills to drive the country’s digital transformation and economic growth. The 3MTT program continues to be a key initiative in building a skilled workforce for the future.
