Enugu Police Raid IPOB/ESN Hideouts, Neutralize Renegades

The Enugu State Police Command recently conducted a raid on criminal hideouts belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the Akwuke area of Enugu metropolis. The operation, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, resulted in a fierce gun battle between the police and the renegades.

Despite facing resistance from the criminals, the police were able to overpower them, leading to the neutralization of two individuals. Several other members of the outlawed group managed to escape, albeit with gunshot wounds. The raid yielded significant results, with the recovery of weapons such as an AK-47 rifle, a Sub-Machine Gun (SMG), and a Pump-Action Gun (PAG), along with live ammunition.

In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, emphasized the importance of the operation in combating the activities of the criminal elements responsible for various attacks and the theft of police officers’ rifles. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kanayo Uzuegbu, commended the operatives for their bravery and reiterated the commitment of the command to eradicating crime in Enugu State.

As investigations continue, the police urge the public to report any individuals with gunshot wounds to the authorities. The community’s support is crucial in maintaining peace and security in the region. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
