Retired Commissioner of Police and Edo Central Senatorial district leader of the Labour Party, LP, Friday Ibadin, has refuted claims of defecting to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. In a recent viral video where PDP candidate Asue Ighodalo visited him alongside former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Friday Itulah, Ibadin clarified that the visit was merely a courtesy call and not an indication of his departure from the Labour Party.

Despite the attempts by the PDP delegation to portray Ibadin’s support for their candidate, Ighodalo, as a defection, Ibadin remains steadfast in his allegiance to the Labour Party and the Obidient movement. The Coordinator of the Obidient movement in the Edo Central senatorial district, Onohinosen Ibhafidon, echoed Ibadin’s sentiments, emphasizing the unity of the Obidients in supporting Olumide Akpata for governorship.

Ibhafidon criticized the use of lies and deception by the ruling party in Edo State, urging the PDP to focus on promoting their candidate rather than resorting to dishonest tactics. He highlighted the desire of the people of Edo for good governance and inclusivity, emphasizing the need for development similar to what is seen in Abia State under the leadership of Mr. Peter Obi.

The unity and support for Akpata within the Obidient movement signal a strong push for progressive governance in Edo State, with a clear rejection of divisive politics and misinformation. As the state gears up for the upcoming governorship election on September 21, the focus remains on delivering effective and accountable leadership for the people of Edo.
