Eight former local government chairmen in Edo State, who were previously members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have made a significant decision to return to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after their departure in 2020. This move marks a pivotal moment in the political landscape of the state, with the returnees expressing their commitment to supporting the APC and working towards victory in the upcoming September 21, 2024 election.

The group of returnees includes prominent figures such as John Akhigbe, Dr. Josie Ogedegbe, Frank Ilaboya, Andrew Osigwe, Napoleon Agbama, Scott Ogbemudia, Austin Okoibhole, and Mrs. Ruth Osahor. They were warmly welcomed back into the APC fold on Monday night at a gathering held at the residence of party leader Senator Adams Oshiomhole in Benin. Also present were the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, and the acting state Chairman of the party, Jaret Tenebe.

Senator Oshiomhole expressed his gratitude for the return of these former chairmen, highlighting the roles they had previously played in governance during his tenure as governor. He emphasized the importance of unity within the party and extended a warm invitation for the returnees to fully participate in the APC’s activities, promising them the same rights and privileges as other members.

In response, Frank Ilaboya spoke on behalf of the group, expressing his deep appreciation for the support and guidance they had received from Senator Oshiomhole in the past. He reaffirmed their commitment to working towards the realization of the party’s vision and goals, pledging to collaborate closely with the leadership to ensure the success of their shared objectives.

The reunion of these former chairmen with the APC signifies a renewed sense of purpose and unity within the party, setting the stage for a collaborative effort towards achieving success in the upcoming election. Their return symbolizes a homecoming of sorts, as they recommit themselves to the ideals and principles that originally drew them to the party.

This momentous occasion serves as a reminder of the ever-evolving nature of politics and the power of unity in driving meaningful change. As the political landscape in Edo State continues to shift, the return of these former chairmen to the APC signals a new chapter in the party’s journey towards a brighter future.
