Lionel Messi looks like he will be back just in time for Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup clash with Liga MX side Monterrey.

Messi had missed three matches in a row in MLS action for Inter Miami – with the club going 1-1-1 over those fixtures.

This morning, Messi was seen training with the club’s first team just a day before facing Rayados in the Champions Cup’s Quarterfinals.

Miami has home field advantage first before traveling to the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon just south of the US-Mexican border.

Manager Tata Martino said that Messi had been suffering from ‘overload in his right hamstring’.

That injury saw him taken off at the 50th minute against Nashville SC in the Champions Cup Round of 16 in mid-March.

He missed three league matches. The first was a 3-1 victory on the road at DC United thanks to super sub Luis Suarez.

The following week, Miami got thrashed in the pouring rain at the hands of the New York Red Bulls.

Most recently, the Herons managed a 1-1 draw with the struggling New York City FC.

Messi has only played the first three matches of the MLS season before picking up his injury against Nashville.

That followed on from a lengthy preseason tour full of controversy over his lack of minutes played.
