Abia State PDP Unfazed by Defections to APC

The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) remains unfazed by the recent defections of some of its members to the rival All Progressives Congress (APC). In a press release signed by Abraham Amah, the Vice Chairman/acting Publicity Secretary, the party stated that the defectors had realized they were no longer useful to the PDP.

According to the PDP, most of those leaving the party were responsible for the “brief downturn” the party experienced during the 2023 polls. However, the party sees this as a blessing in disguise, as it has received numerous applications from individuals eager to join its ranks in Abia.

After conducting a post-mortem on the 2023 general elections, the Abia PDP concluded that it needed to reinvent itself for the future. The party believes that shedding weight, not by expelling members, but by allowing those responsible for its setbacks to exit on their own, is the way forward.

Former Chief of Staff to ex-governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Anthony Agbazuere, former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Eze Chikanmayo, and other top members of the PDP made headlines on Monday when they joined the APC, causing a stir in the Abia political landscape.

The Abia PDP remains focused on its goals and is confident in its ability to attract new members who share its vision for the future. Despite the defections, the party is determined to move forward and continue serving the people of Abia State.
