The police in Borno have confirmed the arrest of eight suspects in connection to the alleged murder of Dr. Kamar Abdulkadir, a lecturer at the University of Maiduguri. Mr. Abdulkadir was tragically murdered in his office on campus by unknown attackers who sneaked in. His body was discovered the following day with severe injuries inflicted by his killer.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Nahun Daso, revealed that the attackers also stole the lecturer’s vehicle, phone, and laptop. Despite reviewing CCTV footage showing the culprits leaving the university with the deceased’s vehicle, the video quality was too poor to identify the number of individuals inside the car.

Investigations into the matter are ongoing, as stated by Daso. Prof. Danjuma Gambo, the Director of Radio and Public Relations at the university, spoke on behalf of Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdullahi Shugaba, assuring that the police and other security agencies are actively investigating to uncover the circumstances surrounding Dr. Abdulkadir’s death.

In light of the seriousness of the situation, university management urges all staff and students to remain calm and continue their daily activities. They emphasize that the campus is secure and safe for teaching, learning, and community engagement. The management also expresses gratitude for the outpouring of sympathy and support from stakeholders during this difficult time.
