PRP Condemns 300 Increase in Electricity Tariff as Insensitive Government

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has strongly condemned the federal government’s decision to hike electricity tariffs by a staggering 300 percent, labeling it as not only insensitive but also a blatant disregard for the well-being of the citizens.

In a statement released by the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, Muhammed Ishaq, the PRP expressed deep concern over the policy, which would see power companies increasing electricity prices from N68 to N200 per kilowatt-hour. This drastic increase, coupled with the recent removal of fuel subsidies and the devaluation of the Naira, has significantly raised the cost of living, leading to increased hardship for the Nigerian populace.

The party emphasized that imposing such burdensome policies on a nation already grappling with economic challenges is unacceptable. It called on the government to reconsider its decision and prioritize the welfare of its citizens. The PRP urged authorities to explore alternative solutions that would not further exacerbate the suffering of Nigerians.

As a party dedicated to championing the welfare of the people, the PRP highlighted the need for empathy, understanding, and collective efforts to uplift the population during these challenging times. It criticized the government for its insensitivity and lack of consideration for the plight of the citizens, stating that the removal of fuel subsidies has already made life unbearable for many Nigerians.

The PRP concluded by condemning the 300% increase in electricity tariffs as a merciless and ruthless policy that adds to the struggles of the majority of the population. It called for a more compassionate approach that prioritizes the basic needs of the people, rather than pushing them deeper into hardship.

In light of these developments, the PRP stands firm in its commitment to advocating for the well-being of Nigerians and ensuring that policies are implemented with the best interests of the citizens at heart.
