Troops Neutralise 2,352 Terrorists, Rescue 1,241 Hostages in Nationwide Operations

The Defence Headquarters has reported significant progress in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria, with troops neutralizing over 2,300 terrorists, apprehending more than 2,300 individuals, and rescuing 1,241 kidnapped hostages in operations conducted between January and March.

According to Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, key terrorist commanders such as Abu Bilal Minuki and Haruna Isiya Boderi have been eliminated. Troops also successfully took down terrorist commanders operating in Birnin Gwari forest and along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

The success of these operations was attributed to coordinated strikes by ground and air forces on terrorist strongholds. The military’s efforts have led to the recovery of a substantial number of weapons and ammunition, as well as the prevention of over N20 billion in oil theft.

The seized weapons include a large number of AK-47 rifles, various types of ammunition, and millions of liters of stolen crude oil and refined petroleum products. These achievements demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the ongoing military operations.

Maj-Gen. Buba emphasized the military’s commitment to further intensifying efforts in the fight against terrorism, ensuring the safety and security of Nigerian citizens. The continuous success of these operations reflects the dedication and professionalism of the armed forces in combating terrorism in the region.
