Terrorists Strike Old-Kuyelo Community in Kaduna State
The peaceful community of Old-Kuyelo in the Birnin Bwari area of Kaduna State was thrown into chaos as terrorists launched a brazen attack on Tuesday night. Residents were forced to flee their homes out of fear of being kidnapped, leaving the town deserted.
Abdulrashid Abarshi, the Secretary-General of the Birnin-Gwari Emirate Progressive Union, confirmed the terrifying incident to PUNCH Online. He expressed concern over the lack of response from Nigerian security forces, allowing the terrorists to roam freely in Old-Kuyelo and Shadow Village since Tuesday.
“We urge the Nigerian military to swiftly deploy security operatives to restore peace and security in these villages,” Abarshi pleaded. He emphasized the vulnerability of Old-Kuyelo, being the next biggest town after Birnin Gwari, and raised fears that the terrorists may have intentions to take control and establish a stronghold in the village.
Despite attempts to reach out to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for a statement, there was no response at the time of reporting.
The situation in Old-Kuyelo serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by communities in Kaduna State and the urgent need for effective measures to combat terrorism.
As the residents of Old-Kuyelo remain in fear and uncertainty, the call for action to protect vulnerable communities grows louder. It is crucial for authorities to take swift and decisive steps to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens.
