Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, faced a tough blow as his team lost 4-3 to Chelsea on Thursday night, with three key players succumbing to injuries during the match.
The first casualty was Raphael Varane, who was unable to complete the first half and had to be substituted for Johnny Evans. Unfortunately, Evans himself had to be replaced in the second half due to an injury.
Adding to the woes, Casemiro also struggled with a knock during the game, further depleting United’s resources.
Speaking about the injuries, ten Hag expressed his frustration, stating, “That doesn’t help in such moments. You need these types of players to show leadership and guide the team on what to do.”
Despite the setbacks, the manager remained optimistic about his team’s resilience, saying, “The team will be there on Sunday. They have character. They showed it today, fighting themselves into the game.”
Looking ahead, Manchester United will face off against rivals Liverpool in their next match on Sunday, hoping to bounce back from their recent defeat.
