Nigerian Army Contradiction: Recovery of Arms in Murder Case

The tragic murder of 17 soldiers in Delta State has left the Nigerian army in a state of confusion and contradiction. Two army officials have spoken out, shedding light on the recovery of arms and ammunition reportedly taken from the slain soldiers.

The Chief of Defence Staff, Christopher Musa, initially stated that the commanding officer and his team were unarmed when they went to Okuama on a peacekeeping mission. However, the Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, Nosakhare Ugbo, later announced that some arms and ammunition had been recovered from the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing, with the Okuama community cooperating to help recover the remaining weapons and identify the perpetrators of this heinous act. The safety of the detained Delta monarch, Clement Ikolo, is also being ensured as he undergoes questioning at the army Headquarters in Abuja.

Mr. Ugbo hinted that more suspects could be declared wanted as the investigation progresses. Additionally, there were reports of a search conducted at the residence of Niger Delta leader, Edwin Clark, as part of the ongoing investigation.

The army officials emphasized the importance of patience and cooperation as they work towards uncovering the truth behind this tragic incident. The search for justice continues, with the hope that all those responsible will be brought to account for their actions.
