The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has taken a significant step towards enhancing the health and well-being of its staff by inaugurating a 12-member committee. The committee, led by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, aims to promote a safe and conducive work environment for civil servants.
In line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025, the committee’s primary focus is on improving the value proposition of staff through continuous efforts to enhance their well-being. This initiative is crucial for ensuring the overall safety and welfare of employees, as well as providing essential support services to enhance their working conditions.
Dr. Esan emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety at all levels and times, highlighting the committee’s role as the voice and eyes of safety within the OHCSF. A safety audit will soon be conducted to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
The committee comprises members from the Occupational Health Safety and Environment (OHSE) Department and other key departments involved in implementing safety and health policies within the OHCSF. Their mandate includes making recommendations to management on hazard control measures and other initiatives to enhance the safety, health, and welfare of staff in the workplace.
Dr. Esan urged committee members to serve with diligence and commitment, emphasizing that the safety and well-being of all staff are essential for improving productivity and ensuring quality service delivery. By prioritizing the health and well-being of its employees, the OHCSF is taking proactive steps to create a safe and supportive work environment for its staff.
