Dauda Ali-Biu, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), has debunked the myth that Road Traffic Crashes (RTCs) are caused by spiritual manipulations or evil spirits. In a recent statement at the Flag-off of the 2024 Sallah mega motor park rally in Abuja, Ali-Biu emphasized that these crashes are solely the result of physical errors, not supernatural forces.

Represented by Shehu Zaki, the FRSC Deputy Corps Marshal in charge of operations, Ali-Biu highlighted the importance of the rally in light of the expected surge in vehicular and human traffic during the festive season. The FRSC is committed to changing motorists’ attitudes in 2024 to reduce the number of road accidents.

Ali-Biu stressed that road crashes are primarily caused by factors such as drinking and driving, overloading of vehicles, worn-out tires, lane indiscipline, and speeding. These behaviors not only endanger the lives of drivers and passengers but also damage road infrastructure funded by taxpayers.

To address these challenges, the FRSC is proactively engaging with union officials at motor parks to promote road safety awareness. Additionally, the Corps plans to deploy personnel and resources to high-risk areas to mitigate traffic congestion and prevent accidents.

It is crucial for Nigerians to understand that road safety is a collective responsibility that requires cooperation and adherence to traffic regulations. By prioritizing safety and responsible driving practices, individuals can contribute to reducing road accidents and preserving lives and property.
