Senator Rabi’u Kwakwanso, the 2023 presidential candidate and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has positioned the party as a viable alternative to the “failed Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and failing All Progressives Congress (APC).”
During the NNPP’s national convention at the A-Class Event Centre in Maitama, Abuja, Senator Kwakwanso emphasized Nigeria’s abundant resources and manpower to tackle insecurity. He pledged that the NNPP would usher in a transformative change for both citizens and the nation as a whole.
At the convention, attended by NEC members, state chairpersons, and federal and state lawmakers, Ajuji Ahmed was appointed as the acting national chairman of the party. The gathering also approved the party’s constitution, slogan, and logo.
Senator Kwakwanso drew a sharp contrast between the ruling APC and the PDP, likening them to birds of a feather that have inflicted significant suffering on Nigerians through unpopular policies. He asserted that while the PDP has already failed, the APC is currently faltering.
Highlighting the NNPP’s rapid growth as a party in Nigeria, Senator Kwakwanso underscored the party’s commitment to education as a means to alleviate poverty and ensure the security of lives and property. He expressed his belief that the NNPP is the fastest-growing party in the country and the only hope for a better future.
As a former minister of defence and chief security officer of Kano State, Senator Kwakwanso stressed that Nigeria has the necessary resources and manpower to protect its citizens and ensure peace in the country. He vowed to work towards a united, stronger, more peaceful, and prosperous Nigeria for all.
Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State acknowledged the support received during the party’s campaigns and legal battles, noting that the NNPP ranks as the third-largest party in Nigeria. With approximately 21 federal legislators, nearly 30 state legislators, one governor, and one deputy governor, the NNPP is poised to make a significant impact on the political landscape.
In conclusion, Senator Kwakwanso expressed gratitude for being selected as the national leader of the NNPP and pledged to lead the party to greater heights. The NNPP’s commitment to internal democracy and unity among its members sets it apart as a beacon of hope for a brighter future in Nigeria.
