Veteran singer and social activist, Charles Oputa, also known as Charly Boy has called on Nigerian youths to stand firm in their beliefs, even in the face of potential consequences.

Charly Boy in a recent video posted on his official X account expressed that the future of Nigeria lies in the hands of youth which they must decide when ready.

Addressing his support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party during the 2023 general election, Charly Boy disclosed that his endorsement garnered him adversaries, a consequence he was prepared to face.

He said, “You know it gives me strength. To have somebody to fight for or something to fight for. I know I’m far too shy to fight for myself most of the time, believe it or not. But if there is a cause, there’s a cause and a noble one at that or if it’s about a person or persons, or what I really believe in. Yeah, let me tell you the honest truth. I know, I can kill.

“Recently. I was having a conversation with one of my pikins. When he started interrogating me on the reason why I was solidly still behind, Peter Obi.

Since in the past, I never stood behind any politician or supported any political party. Yeah. That was quite simple, there comes a time in one’s life when you must have to take a stand, and even doing good has consequences. talkless about doing badly.

“I’m not surprised that my support for this outstanding man called Peter Obi created for me a lot of enemies, that’s the reality. Okay. Now, if I don’t believe it, or I’m not ready to walk through fire for a better Nigeria. Oh, my friend of frustrated. Now, you can tell me now wetin I gain.

“Let Area Father know. When enough is enough.”
